Pigmentation

Pigmentation, read for what it actually is.

Pigmentation is the most common reason people come to us — and rarely one single thing. It can follow sun exposure, shift with hormones, or linger as a mark after a breakout, and each behaves differently. So we start by identifying what yours is before we say a word about how to address it.

Sun-related

Pigment that builds up over years of cumulative sun exposure — common in our climate.

Melasma

Often hormonal and patchy. It rewards a careful, patient approach rather than an aggressive one.

Post-inflammatory

The marks left behind after acne or irritation, once the spot itself has settled.

Melasma, sun spots, freckles, Hori’s naevus, naevus of Ota — pigment sits at different depths, which is why we assess before we treat. Posed by a model.

Illustrative only — how targeted, light-based treatment is understood to address pigment. Not a depiction of results.

Acne

Acne, treated as a medical condition.

Acne is medical, not cosmetic — and it responds to treatment aimed at what is causing it. We start by assessing how severe yours is, then plan around it: what’s driving it, the options that fit, and how we’ll review it over time.

Injectables & in-clinic treatments

We start with your skin, not a machine.

The right treatment — or combination — is chosen with you at your consultation, never picked off a menu. Here are the approaches we work with; the specifics, including any prescription treatments, are discussed and decided in person.

Laser treatments

Targeted, light-based treatments, matched to your skin and the concern you’re addressing.

Injectable skin treatments

Injectables that work on skin quality rather than volume — hyaluronic-acid skin boosters for hydration, polynucleotide (PDRN) treatments, collagen stimulators, and collagen or extracellular-matrix based injectables. Which of these suits you, if any, is worked out at your consultation.

Microneedling

Fine-needle treatment that prompts the skin’s own renewal, often used for texture.

Dermal fillers

Used to restore volume or to lift and support — placed conservatively, and only where it suits you.

Anti-wrinkle injections

Injectable treatments that soften the muscle movement behind expression lines.

Treatments here are prescribed and administered by your doctor. Suitability, combinations, and what is realistic are all covered at your consultation.

Everyday skin

And the everyday things, too.

Sensitive skin, recurring breakouts, redness, and the general concerns that don’t make headlines — the same considered, medical-grade care, not just for the dramatic cases.

Starting out

If you’re young and watching what you spend.

Looking after your skin does not have to be expensive. In your teens and twenties, what helps most is usually unglamorous: a short routine you actually keep to, sunscreen most days, and treating acne early — before it leaves marks that are harder to deal with later.

If you have been buying products that are not working, a consultation is a sensible place to start. We will go through what your skin needs, what it does not, and what can wait. If the answer is a simple routine and a prescription cream rather than a course of treatments, that is what we will tell you.

You are told the consultation fee beforehand. Medication, if needed, is charged separately.

What to expect

No pressure. Just a clear plan.

Unhurried

A full consultation, with time to actually talk through what’s going on.

Options, with trade-offs

The realistic choices, explained honestly — including what each one asks of you.

Clear pricing

Treatment plans are quoted after your assessment. Any medication or tests needed are charged separately.

Common questions

Skin questions, answered plainly.

How do I know what type of pigmentation I have?

The safest way is a doctor’s assessment. At Belief Medical, Dr Sam Lua examines the pattern, distribution and history of your pigmentation — melasma, sunspots and post-inflammatory marks each behave differently — before any treatment is discussed.

How much does pigmentation or acne treatment cost in Singapore?

At Belief Medical, consultations are charged at a fee you are told beforehand, and treatment plans are quoted after your assessment — the cost depends on what your skin actually needs, so we don’t publish one-size-fits-all prices.

Do I need a referral to see the doctor about my skin?

No referral is needed. Belief Medical is a private clinic at Kitchener Complex, near Lavender MRT — message us on WhatsApp (+65 8770 9188) to book a skin consultation.
